2–4 Years
ABC Child Center strives to create a caring, safe, and enjoyable environment while allowing children to develop to their fullest potential as successful learners, confident individuals, and responsible citizens. We recognize every child as a unique individual. Utilizing an age-appropriate, play-based curriculum and the support of our devoted staff and our families, we will ensure that every child achieves success and set them on a path of lifelong learning.
Preschool Day
ABC’s preschool program is divided into three age groups: 2 to 2.5’s, 2.5 to 3’s, and the 3+. The children will experience various age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, science, early mathematics, music and dance, dramatic play, circle time, sign language, and pre-reading skills. Every day, weather permitting, children go for a walk to the park or around the community. The program also includes enrichment classes in yoga and Spanish language. In preparation for Pre-Kindergarten, children will enhance their learning by practicing the alphabet, numbers, colors, and printing. There are various group and individual one-on-one activities and opportunities for active free play and quiet time. ABC activities foster a positive self-image, independence, cooperative play, self-expression, and practical daily living skills.
The preschool day follows a predictable daily routine. Parents receive a monthly calendar and newsletter listing the theme and any special activities the children will participate in. Parents will also receive a daily emailed progress report that includes detailed information about the child’s day, photos, and sometimes videos of their child in action.
Meals at ABC
Children at ABC are fed according to the group schedule and in adherence to ABC’s Feeding & Meal Policy. Parents are responsible for bringing in food from home. Children have four meals per day: breakfast at 9:30 am, a hearty snack at 12:00 pm, lunch at 3:00 pm, and a light snack at 5:30 pm.
Napping at ABC
Every child at ABC is encouraged to take a daily nap or have quiet time to rest on a personal cot designated to him/her for that day. ABC provides every child with a 100% organic cot sheet at the time of registration, which we launder at the end of every week. Parents are also asked to bring in a blanket from home to create additional comfort and security. Children nap according to the group schedule between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. When putting children to sleep, the teachers play calming music in the background while individually comforting the children to sleep by rubbing, patting, soothing, and so on.
